FIRST GRADE : EXPERIENCE FORTY-EIGHT : CHRISTINE TRZYNA WRITING WORKSHOP

Go back to first grade. Tell your experience story in the mind and language of that first grader.  Are you reading?  Do you like your teacher?  Is there homework? What are you wearing?  Do you take the school bus?  Keep going...

Then, as an adult, answer this: How did first grade influence your education from then on?

PARENT'S WORLD VIEW : EXPERIENCE FORTY-SEVEN : CHRISTINE TRZYNA WRITING WORKSHOP

Put yourself into your parent's world view and explain it in their voice. What did they or are they saying to you now (even if they have died)?

THE UNITED STATES UNDER THE DICTATORSHIP OF PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP BOMBED IRAN'S NUCLEAR FACILITIES AS A FAVOR TO ISRAEL

That's my take.

I woke up in the middle of the night and checked the news - and was appalled. I'm worried sick this morning after not being able to fall back to sleep. Not only did Trump bypass Congress but ignored United Nations agreements when giving the military orders to bomb Iran's budding nuclear facilities. We are living under a Dictator who rules, not a President who leads.

I AM for a strong DEFENSE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on our OWN LAND.  We may now NEED IT.

So here is what we need to be prepared for:

Terrorist attacks on our own land which will likely kill, disable, or traumatize Americans.

Cyber attacks on all systems that run on computers including military installations, hospitals, energy grid, government, and all else.

Individuals and families who are here from Iran or come from Iranian heritage being targeted for bullying by individuals who favor war.

"Christians" who WANT World War 3 as a harbinger of the END TIMES and THE RAPTURE.  (I've already encountered some of these blood thirsty "Christians" at the library.)

More Pro Palestinian versus Israel protesting here in the United States and in Europe. (I wonder if the vegetarian "Peaceniks" are celebrating this morning.)

More Anti-Semitism. In the United States this term is usually applied to Jewish people

"The term "Semite" refers to people who speak or spoke a Semitic language, including Akkadians, Arabs, Arameans, Canaanites, and Habesha peoples. It is also used to describe people descended from Shem, one of Noah's sons in the Bible. The term is primarily associated with the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.

Less than ONE SQUARE MILE of Los Angeles was WRONGLY REPORTED as AN ENTIRE CITY IN RIOT AND INSURRECTIONS very recently, and the Federal Government sent in thousands of National Guards and Marines ... Further the emptying of the country by CRIMINAL ILLEGAL OCCUPANTS of OUR COUNTRY - which we thought meant gang affiliated violent criminals who lost their souls - is now interpreted to mean just anyone.

Here is the truth about the size of (and relative peace) of Los Angeles:

"It is significantly larger, covering approximately 502.7 square miles. This area includes both land and water, with 468.7 square miles of land and 34 square miles of water. "

TRIVIAL or SUPERFICIAL or LIGHTHEARTED ; THE LIST OF THE MOMENT

WHAT'S NEW?

I'm Curious

Will the advent of the Olympics really inspire the Powers That Are to end Homelessness in Los Angeles, or will the city put up facades that lie, kind of like the peasants did in Austria, to hide their poverty, when King Franz Joseph and his entourage came through?

Who even wants to be President of the United States any more? (A CEO earns more.)

What happened to my high school friend's children who were such brats twenty-five years ago? Did they grow out of it or are they demanding adults?

I Might Just Be Done With : Going to any event that advertises that FOOD TRUCKS will be there.

So funny! : I went with a friend to an adult crafts class that was so childish (felt lady bug cut outs glued to magnets) that I told her I was going to have to start wearing a paper pinned to my shirt that said "If I'm lost please call my mother."

AM I WHO I KNOW? Impossible. I don't know anyone!

Celebrity I (once) met (just saying) : Marty Balin (Martyn Jerel Buchwald) singer/songwriter of the Jefferson Airplane who passed in 2018.

IF I COULD TRAVEL BACK IN TIME : Late spring/early summer 2023.

I'M LISTENING TO : Coverage of the so called "riots" and "insurrection" which never happened in the last few days Los Angeles. (Someone get out a dictionary and show President Trump the true meaning of these words.)

INDULGENCE? I wish! A long deep soak in a pristine claw foot tub.

Book I Recently Read Cover To Cover : I've read no books from cover to cover in recent months, though I have skimmed. This question should be "What magazine article did you read in its entirety?

Book(s) I Keep Meaning To Re/read : Confessions of a Dangerous Mind by Chuck Barris,

Films I Recently Watched From Beginning to End : Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, A Rainy Day in New York (Woody Allen), The Hoax.

AM I WHAT I EAT?

I'm Drinking : black tea

I Just Overate : potato salad

I'm Craving : potato salad

I'M GETTING BETTER AT :  threading a sewing machine and filling a bobbin

I FEAR : The Republican agenda to break Los Angeles.

THE JACARANDA TREES ARE BLOOMING as I WRITE OUTDOORS AT A PARK

Purple everywhere and flowers dropping, none that have perfume. Green grass.  Cool out.  Cloud cover.  I can see the laptop screen.

The last several days, writing, printing, and snail mailing letters of protest and advocacy.  Will any of them solicit response?  Don't know.  Have to get my anger out of my system.

In the works, one to the library, which has been taking a survey.

Fearless squirrels coming to see what I have in my lunch bag. Luckily this park has many pine trees with plenty of pine cones so they are not entirely addicted to processed and inappropriate people food out of garbage cans.

Be Productive.

Evenings with a friend, watching old films. Eating Reeses peanut butter cups every night, more than I ever ate in my entire life.

Later I hope to sew a carry bag for my friend, as a gift for him, for Father's Day.

Terrible worries about the economy, job loss, and the desperate need for more truly affordable housing. "It's going to get worse," he says, frequently, when I find articles about the excessive number of for sale houses on the market, how first time home buyers are backing out of buying, afraid their incomes will not support mortgages.

We've been watching the construction of a major, potentially community changing, housing project.  Advertised as "From the low 600,000."  These town homes are clustered together so that it appears that all that's between them is the car access.  We see how their address clings to a single family home neighborhood rather than the busy street that some of them front.  Will there be soundproofing? Two sets of them have been completed, and we think someone is living in one, perhaps a show-piece furnished, but we don't think a single one of them has been sold.

The front doors are narrow and painted the color that must be the color of the year, a yellow like a chunk of cheese or maybe a school bus. "How can you even get any furniture through that door?" "Maybe they think people are going to order their furniture from Ikea, assemble it indoors, and never get it back out again?" It looks like two rows of these town homes made of wood and plywood have been left standing and we see no workpersons continuing to work. Is the builder waiting for inspections? Moved crew to another site? Out of money?

Who wants a townhouse in this neighborhood?

What will happen to the government housing? The ma and pop stores with low rent?

I think of the seniors who have lived in their own single family home, purchased years ago for much less, inflation, the devaluation of the dollar, the horror that $40,000 a year is barely livable for one person.  I think that if you have a house you can sell for a million, these town homes might be a sensible move. But... how many seniors want to do three stories of stairs?  The promised electric car plug-ins suggest that these are targeted to attracted young people, techies, people with income of $100,000 a year or more. A way into housing, perhaps without expectation of ever making the pay off?

We muse over the economy between meals.

My friend and I go to eat fast food a lot these last few months. Neither of us were ever much into fast food but it works with a temporary lifestyle. McDonalds, Wendys, Popeyes, Kentucky Fried, Jack in and Box, even once Arby's. Too much fried.  Too many fries.

We look to see who else is eating, what cars there are in lots or going through drive-throughs. We think indoor dining is empty.

We think Rite Aid. All those employees who have loyally held on.

If AI is going to take over so many jobs, how will all those people earn their living?

Another squirrel.

More purple flowers.

I DEEPLY REGRET EVER HAVING A PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT

I DEEPLY REGRET EVER HAVING A PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT

Years ago, I, like thousands of other people, were lured into having a FREE PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT.  I used it to upload photos from cell phones, and well, some time ago - perhaps more than a couple years ago - I STARTED GETTING THREATENING EMAILS from Photobucket.  Though Photobucket did say it would charge if someone went over a certain limit, when I did go over the photos were not BLOCKED from uploading to prevent me from going over though I had selected FREE ACCOUNT.  I'VE RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF THREATENING EMAILS FROM PHOTOBUCKET ABOUT THE LOSS OF MY PHOTOS and LOSS OF THE ACCOUNT WHICH HAVE BEEN A TIME WASTING PAIN IN THE ASS TO DELETE.  THE DESPERATION ON THEIR PART WAS AND IS SHOWING.

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WANTS TO BE PESTERED INTO FORKING OVER FEES.

At one point I contacted them and said I could not know if I did or did not want to save these photos when I was BLOCKED FROM SEEING WHAT I UPLOADED.

Someone from their CUSTOMER SERVICE DID CONTACT ME and I SAID THE SAME.

TO REITERATE

I DID NOT KNOW IF or WHEN I WENT OVER IN UPLOADS. (It could be that uploading did not go smoothly, resulting in repetitions of the same photo.) I SELECTED FREE ACCOUNT and THEY DID NOT BLOCK UPLOADS PAST THE ALLOTTED NUMBER.

MY PHOTOS ARE BEING HELD FOR RANSOM.,

The customer service person said he would tell his higher-ups how I felt about it.

In truth I don't think I uploaded many personal photos of value to me.  I did photograph art projects and such.

And these days, I upload to Google Photos and do a lot of deleting once done with an image.

I'M POSTING THIS TO SAY "DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH PHOTOBUCKET."

THE MUSE IS A CHARACTER I'M WRITING

THE MUSE IS A CHARACTER I'M WRITING

Shamefully or understandably, one of my writing projects is a novel that is not on hold but that I've revisited after months away. I don't have writer's block. It's that Life demands too much survival from me and too much time including long commutes, in this long moment, to focus. The author Erica Jong said, and was quoted saying, that the time to write cannot be replaced. I know!

The novel is set in the realizable past but is a historical novel. The research for it, which I also enjoy, frankly takes far more time than the writing. That's because I know that a knowledgeable reader will crash into any inaccuracies and not be able to go with the reading flow and the reader who just wants to suspend all belief is someone I don't want to mislead.

It's my aim to enter that time and place and know it as well as my characters.

I'm not complaining. Researching is not just about finding the right information to read. My research has included photographing historical photos on walls in various locations as well as walking certain neighborhoods to photograph buildings. I have a list of buildings I want to go into just to see the lobbies; some of the places in my novel are long gone or have been repurposed or are up for refurbishing. I often listen to music from the era I've placed characters in, because they listen to that music. I've paged through books about the history of the era and photographed just what I'm focused upon and eventually print that out. Clothing and haircuts and perfume are included in my work.

Recently, when I revisited my novel, I started by reading what I've already written. Time away is an excellent way to discover that what you wrote months or years earlier still stands, that it's valid, that it's good or even great. I continued to write a chapter that furthers the story the other day. I'd printed out what I wrote previously and I knew what I wanted this chapter to accomplish as the story moves forward.

It seems to me that my main character, the one my readers will get to know the best, is my muse. This character is continuing to tell me her story so I can write it.
