One of the stupidest things people say to writers, when we share (and since we are expressers, we share) instead of the horridly patronizing "Thank You For Sharing," is "You should write a book."
Our every harsh experience is dismissed or deemed worth experience for the "learning value." We are often told by people that these experiences are worth it because they give us SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT. As if we don't already experience life as worth writing about without the angst. As if only harsh experiences are somehow illuminating or invigorating or inspiring! AS IF OBSERVATION, RESEARCH, or pure IMAGINATION are not enough!
