POLITICAL CORRECTNESS LEAVES NO ROOM FOR BEING IN THE MIDDLE and BERNIE SANDERS

Political correctness.

It seems to me it's used as a form of censorship.  It should be politically correct to be able to air your opinions without fear of censor.

I'm generally thought of as open minded and liberal - progressive.  I think that is true of me. Even I, however, meet people who are soooo politically correct - usually to the extreme left but sometimes to the extreme right - that I feel myself on unexpectedly shaky middle ground.

I sit in silence. I don't want to get into an argument.

I have NOT become a person who becomes more conservative with age.  Rather I have found that certain things I might have explored at some time in the past are not for me and were never for me (but maybe if I hadn't explored I might not know that.)  Maybe with age we just become our truer selves.

I've felt that if you have to error, error on the liberal side.  As a basis for my philosophy of live and let live, I'm strongly for choice. There are many things other people do that I still would never. Some liberals confuse my feeling that other people should be allowed to live as they choose with things about me that are not true, but I live with it.

Among the people who have surprised and confused me in recent months...

A woman who has gone radical against abortion, though she herself has had two.  Living a childless life she was able to focus on her career, avoid staying married to Mr. Wrong to raise children, and has money from all those long hard hours she worked childless, enough for world travel. The same person criticized a friend of mine for being married 15 years and not having a child with her husband.  (Now that she's a part of a Bible -based fundamentalist church where the minister urges everyone to Republicanism, I didn't ask, but wonder why she doesn't want other women to have the same choice she did to be married for the third time and childless.)

A minister at a progressive" church whose serman took her personal veganism into a "We All Know" and "Save the Earth" dimension.  I felt like eating a steak raw and dripping with blood after sitting still for this, though I usually only eat steak a couple times a year well done hearing this and later joked that I would be part of the Carnivore Choir.  For a long time now I have felt that most people I encounter with vegan politically beliefs - though they tie this in with the resources used to grow meat and animal welfare - do not understanding that some people here in the United States would be dead if it were not for hot dogs and five for a dollar Asian noodle soup packages.  They say it's inexpensive to be Vegan but all those special products that are bought to ensure enough nutrition are expensive.  I once had Vegan friends who traveled with a suitcase full of herbs and supplements. Some of the products are just as processed as not organic foods, just as full of useless calories and fat and sugar.

I'm firmly convinced I'm bodily a mammal and carnivore, a product of evolution and thousands of years of eating meat, I have the teeth and intestines for it and if you're reading this, I bet that's true of you too.

So what does this have to do with Bernie Sanders?

Well, I DO NOT EXPECT ANY DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE TO GET MUCH DONE _ SUCH AS UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, unless the House and Senate are controlled by Democrats.  I'm well aware from talking to Canadians and reading Daily Mail UK about their "Socialist" health care that there are problems - that it probably will not guarantee excellent health care on demand for all.   Instead long waits and lots of criticism plus most people who go into medicine expect to make excellent money and we have a doctors shortage so nurse practitioners are doing a lot of the work. However, holding the idealism is important, and so is starting the negotiation.

I have to admit that Andrew Yang was also of interest to me.  I liked his idea of giving every American $1000 a month to spend the way they want to such as rent, student loans, business start up, paying back debt.  I didn't like that this money was to anyone who was not already getting $1000 a month from the government such as on Social Security, SSI, SSDI, as so many people are living in dire poverty on those programs.

Last Presidential election I felt that I was unsure who I wanted to vote for too close to voting so I took an online questionnaire and learned I was 3/4 for Bernie and 1/4 for Donald Trump. The crowd I run with at the moment, upon hearing Bloomberg was considering Hillary as his Vice President collectively sighed at that news.  We're all desperate for the end of the present chaos of the Presidency.

And I mean to send a Thank You to Mitt Romney.

CONVERSATION HEARTS ARE BACK

Rumor was that they had gone away forever.

Possibly their old manufacturer sold them to Brachs Candy.

Brachs site shows them available.

OK, rarely do you eat one at a time, to sense the flavor.

BRACHS TINY CONVERSATION HEARTS

They aren't so good to suck on and they are a little too hard for the teeth to munch.

And sometimes, rarely, do you craft with them, or enclose them in a Valentine to communicate a message.

Still, if you pause to read the TEXT, they can be fun and full of possibilities.

I prefer the Brach's cinnamon hearts.  I once baked someone a cake with these hearts all around in the icing.

HUFF POST : HISTORY OF CONVERSATIONAL CANDY

Hey,  I really liked NECCO Wafers.  Are they gone away forever?
They were made with real flavor oils.  You could taste the flavors.
